Santiago’s been teaching people how to surf for over 15 years — long before Bali ever showed up on his radar.

Originally from Argentina and Uruguay, he first came to Indonesia in 2017 chasing waves... and never really left. A couple years later, he met his wife Olyya on the shores of Sumatra, and Bali became home.

He’s coached total beginners, improvers, and seasoned surfers across different continents — but his approach is always the same: keep it clear, keep it relaxed, and get you standing on that board feeling stoked.

Santiago also speaks English, Spanish and Indonesian.

We believe in finding the best, uncrowded waves so you can focus on learning and having fun. Our lessons are built around understanding the ocean—from reading the tide to spotting the right take-off point—so you become a confident surfer from the start.

Where we surf depends on the ocean.

Each day, we check the swell, tide, and wind to find the right spot — one that’s quiet, safe, and works for your level. No need to choose or worry. Just show up, and we’ll go where the waves are best.

    La clase con Santiago fue de 10!! Hiper mega recomiendo!!! Me explicó todo de una manera muy simple y era justo lo que necesitaba para progresar y revisar mis bases.     Had a great experience with Santiago ! Very nice guy, picked us up from our hostel and brought us to an excellent surf spot for our skill level. He gives a lot of great feedback on form and coaching on when to stand/ paddle. He worked really hard to help us catch every wave. It was a great personable lesson having only myself and my wife in the class unlike other larger group classes. We were able to surf a lot of waves 🤙 Thanks Santiago !

    Never thought I would catch so many waves in my first 2 lessons as a beginner and enjoy surfing already from the start! Santiago has a very straightforward, no bullshit approach that helps me to push past my fears and challenge me beyond what I thought I was capable of. He is also knowledgeable about finding the best spots in Bali, which gives me a lot of comfort to get the best experience as a beginner.

    Really good lesson! In one lesson I learned how to paddle and catch my own wave, standing up and even steering the board. Santiago gave me the confidence to do it and he gave me a lot of responsibility from the beginning which I really appreciated. He didnt push you into the wave, you could paddle yourself. Grateful!

    Santiago was a very nice and funny teacher; he really cares about people learning, he corrects you and gives you useful tips! I would definitely recommend it if you search a personal approach:)

General

  • Do I need any experience to join a lesson?

    Not at all. We teach complete beginners every day — no stress, no pressure. You’ll learn step by step, starting on the sand and moving into the water when you're ready.

  • Are lessons suitable for kids?

    Yes — as long as they can swim and are comfortable in the ocean. For safety and quality, we keep kids' lessons small (max 3 per group).

  • When’s the best time of year to surf in Bali?

    Surf’s good all year. Dry season (Apr–Nov) is west coast with bigger swells, while wet season (Dec–Mar) is east coast with smaller, mellower waves and fewer crowds.

Surf Lessons

  • How long is each lesson?

    About 60–90 minutes in the water, depending on conditions and your energy. We don’t rush — the goal is good waves and good vibes.

  • What types of lessons do you offer?

    We offer private 1-on-1 lessons, small group lessons (up to 3), and group lessons (4–5 people). Photo/video add-ons and surf guiding are also available.

  • Can I request a specific beach?

    Yes, feel free to ask! If you’re interested in surfing a specific break, let us know. We’ll give you honest feedback on whether it’s a good match for your level and conditions — and suggest better options if needed.

Gear & Prep

  • Do I need to bring my own board?

    Nope — we provide everything: surfboard, leash, and rash guard. Just bring swimwear, water, and a smile.

  • Can I use my own board?

    Absolutely. If you have your own board, feel free to bring it — Santiago will help you get the most out of it.

  • What should I wear?

    Boardshorts, bikinis, or swimsuits — whatever’s comfy in the water. We’ll provide rash guards to help with sun and rashes.

Logistics

  • Do you provide transport?

    Yes — transport to and from the surf spot is included with all lessons. Once you book, we’ll coordinate pickup location and timing.

  • What beaches do you surf at?

    We surf different spots based on tide, swell, and your level — usually around Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Bingin, Dreamland, Balangan, and other spots across the Bukit and beyond. One of the main things that sets us apart is that we’ll always pick the best spot for your level and for getting quality, uncrowded waves.

  • How do I book a lesson?

    Tap any Book a Lesson button on the site — it’ll open WhatsApp so you can chat directly with Santiago.

  • How far in advance should I book?

    Ideally at least a day before — but feel free to message anytime and we’ll see if we can fit you in.

  • Do I need to pay upfront?

    Nope — just confirm via WhatsApp and pay on the day of your lesson.

  • What’s your cancellation policy?

    No problem if you need to cancel or reschedule — just let us know a few hours in advance. We may also reschedule if surf conditions aren’t safe due to big swell or wind.
